Speaking of little boxes, the URIx is almost as big as the BBB itself. Will there be (/ is there) an alternative that is smaller, proportional to the BBB for a microNode?

Do you mean a local operators' console with local and remote node operation?

I think that is a really good idea. I'd thought about something like this - a tidily boxed "transceiver" sitting on the desk with mic, channel switch, and a speaker - but it used IP to connect to remote nodes.  Would be very good for emergency work.
