I have several of these systems and have used the usb fob and the voter board/RTCM's. I run the systems on Intel ATOM motherboards and have had no problems due to the systems or the software.  But I have had problems caused by network components.  One time I had what I can describe as stuttering audio and I one by one tried rebooting devices including all devices of the all star system, the network switches, and the network router.  I did these one by one and allowed time between each and the device that fixed the problem was one of the MikroTik router boards.  After rebooting it the problem was solved.  6 months later the problem came back.  This time I only rebooted the MikroTik router board and it fixed the problem.  

Don't blame the allstarlink system or the app_rpt or the centos system as they are proven to work reliably for very long periods of time.  cheep network switches and routers are the most likely cause of problems, and even the expensive network switches and routers have been known to cause these problems.  
Also, if you are having problems with the Asterisk system crashing then first look at the hardware that it is ruining on.  I play with just about every feature that the system has and even try making it do thing that it is not suppose to do and try pushing it to it's limits and it is very solid.

There is nothing wrong with his system. This is a fundamental bug in the software. I have heard this now described in many different ways, but I am certain it is the same problem again and again. Since we have all different setup, networks, ... It is very unlikely that every time it is a problem with the 'customers' site. We just have to admit and acknowledge that this is a bug in the software and we will face this until the software is being fixed.

There seem to be a number of things we can do to alleviate the problem but it's not going away.

This is a hard one to decipher because it can be so many things. Your system, your local network, the Internet, and the same things at the other end. There are a lot of people with poor signals, either audio level or quality or packet loss on both Allstar and IRLP and of course echolink.

Does this happen on all stations? Does it depend on local network loading? Do you here it on an echo test? What kind of Internet connection do you have? Do other report problems on your signal?

Subject: [App_rpt-users] Stuttering Audio

All too often, I have a problem with stuttering inbound audio.  It's happening every few minutes and it lasts for several seconds then clears up.  I don't know how to describe it other than it sounds like the voice is mixed with about a 5 Hz signal.  Has anyone experienced this type of problem, and if so, have you solved it?
