Mike,

You can send * dtmf to key and # dtmf to unkey.

extensions.conf

exten => 1001,1,Rpt(1001|S)
same => n,Hangup()

from you SIP client dial 1001 and then press * and #.

I use my cell with zoiper app and works perfectly.
