Following along. In a similar situation using a small controller for local repeat audio/keying but the Pi for beeps and boops. I operate duplex mobile and can’t stand the inherent/unpredictable audio delay when repeat audio runs through the Pi. To pass audio to the Pi, the controller design is such that repeat audio doesn’t mute on DTMF. I probably can cut traces / add parts to solve this, but haven’t pursued it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I should clarify, I'm trying to use a in-cabinet repeat function of the repeater (duplex=3) and to gate the audio when DTMF is detected.  Hoping to use some sort of output from app_rpt to gate the audio instead of building an external decoder.

You can setup a command to run an external program or toggle gpio for any
command you want.  Typically user defined macro's start with 5, but any number
can be used so long as it's unique left to right.
