I am currently looking for a way to use a usb wifi adapter. I am using apple airport for a wireless network and currently have my pc in the room with the apple airport connected via cable. I would love to be able to move the pc and radio into my ham room ( without running a cable) I am looking to use a usb wifi connection through my pc to the apple airport, does anyone have any information on this type of setup?

I see several people running mobile nodes, I am guessing that this is
accomplished by using a usb modem or some other cell type access. I am looking
to relocate my pc from the room that houses my router. I would like to use a
wifi adapter and use a wirless link. I woudl appreciate any information on
adding a way to use a wireless usb adapter instead of the LAN cable.

The easy way would be to use a wireless bridge they work great.

Option two find a wireless pci or USB device and hope it's compatiple, configure wlan0 instead of eth0. You will most likely have to do some manual compiling to get the device to work

Reverse Autopatch access allows a caller (eiter with or without an AllStar Link user ID, selectible by configuration) to cause a Node to announce their presence (while on hold) and if a user of the Node wishes, may connect to call onto the Node. If the Node is configured to require use by a valid AllStar Link user, then the user is prompted to enter their AllStar User Security PIN before connecting then to the Node.

I believe that Jim put the drivers in for the Virgin Mobile and Sprint USB
modem. I would check before you buy...

Most likely you would need to use the proxy for your node. Virgin Mobile via
WalMart has a $20 1Gb 30 days only at walmart...

Is it possible to send or regenerate a dtmf tone across a link without being muted. I want to be able to control a linker II controller over the link if possible. I have tried the ilink dtmf commands set up in macros with no success. They don?t make it through to the controller I am trying to control on the other end.

The Limey Linux and Pickle distros have support built in them for the Virgin Mobile modems
(OVMC760, and/or normal U760), but I dont believe the kernel that is running in the
ACID (Centos) distro has support for it.
