It was not that “HamVoip does not follow “the rules”…they do not follow “the law”…in this case copyright law.  HamVoip is obliged to share back the source code of all changes/enhancements make to the app_rpt code as a condition of its use.  They do not.  Many are upset by that.  Some or not.  Perhaps someday a court shall decide.

 

As far as going rogue, anyone can start their own network that supports IAX routing for amateur radio and which can be used by the app_rpt software.  No problem there.  Do we need another?  Two networks might be good for redundancy.

 

In the DMR world, we have DMR MARC, Brandmeister, TGIF, DMR+ and XLX.  I don’t see folks getting too upset about that.

 

Why don’t we all just have one repeater in our towns and cities.  One is enough, right?

 

Why do we have so many HF bands?  We could just all be on 10 meters between 28.3 and 28.5 MHz to be fair to the Technician licensees.

 

Can we just put a stop to the moaning and groaning here?  Be happy you have a choice.  You are free to connect where you choose.

Remember the AllStar folks that went nuts claiming HamVoip branch was rouge and doing their own thing by not following the rules not too long ago?    

 

From what I can tell it’s the same accusers now going rogue and creating their own rules / network and trying to pull folks along.
