What is the latest working solution to get WX Weather reports/alerts on DIAL? I found some pages talking about BBB but didn't see anything for DIAL. Sincerely, boB - W5EVH

Remember, this is the Federal Government you're dealing with. I'm sure a lot of the people at the local offices realize this would be beneficial, but generally the direction an agency will go, which includes how information such as this will be presented to the general public, comes down from the top. If this was brought up to those that can influence the decisions, maybe a separate part of the their website could be created exclusively for this type of activity. Wouldn't even need to be advertised, per se. Just there and accessible to whoever knows where to find it. Maybe try contacting someone within the NWS and see if they could direct you to someone that could help out with this. I'm guessing this may never have been done. i'm pretty sure they were not even aware that some microscopic number (relative to the number of daily users of their site) of amateur radio repeaters were extracting the info from their site. I'm wondering if we are getting too dependent on the Internet for weather information. It might be time to consider if you want weather audio on your repeater, a NOAA receiver might be worth looking into. Just a thought. YMMV 73, Steve N4IRS

I agree - I use the Internet as a convenience for weather-on-demand. I still have a conventional SAME-encoded "all hazards" radio connected to a node monitor-only node, running on VOX. If there is some really urgent event, it comes on the radio immediately. Keying up the weather radio forces you to listen to a whole cycle of program before you hear the forecast. The Internet version is quicker.
