I'm having a problem with a new server not connecting to Allstar. SSH is working. I can ping Google, both by IP and name, so DNS is ok. The router port for SSH TCP port is open and pointing to this server. Port 4569 UDP is open and pointing to this server. However, the nscheck.sh script shows Allstar servers 1 and 2 down, and then hangs until I press ^C. I can ping the Allstar servers, so I know they are there. Savenode.sh also fails to run properly. Try wget -O- http://nodes1.allstarlink.org/cgi-bin/nodes.pl or wget -O- http://nodes2.allstarlink.org/cgi-bin/nodes.pl on the node server. You should get a list of nodes on the screen if this is working correctly. See if your node is in that list. If it isn't then your node is not registering properly. Steve WA6ZFT
I have been noticing on different nodes that lose an internet connection that the dnstool in asterisk itself starts actiing up and can't resolve the allstarlink host, yet the system can. Been a problem on a couple of nodes. Not sure what the fix is, but we have to end up adding nodes that we want to connect to in the rpt.conf file. None of my nodes have this problem, but some of my friends nodes are suffering from this. I have found that when I set up an node, I leave it on DHCP. Then I set the ports on the router. Then later on I change the node to an static IP. Adjust the router accordingly to open the ports for the static IP. When the box is set up for DHCP, usually your ISP DNS servers are listed in the resolv.conf file. When I change the box to Static ip, the resolv.conf file is cleared out. At this point I put into the resolv.conf open DNS servers that are ISP neutral. That way when the node gets moved to its new home it wont matter what ISP its on (as long as the router its connected to gets a public IP). The other problem is if I set it up on my ISP dns in the resolv conf file then move it to new location and different ISP, the nameservers from my home may not work and the node wont report properly. So this is why I use the "open DNS " name servers. It usually resolves quite nicely.
