If the person connecting is using one of the proxy servers, the callsign will not necessarily be that of the person doing the connecting. This is also true of people connecting using a smartphone app, as that also uses a proxy. Asterisk can only report the callsign that it gets from echolink. You will get this if the user is using a gateway or relay station and not connecting directly… If I use my android phone I have to use a relay as it won’t connect directly if I am on 3g.
