Telephone Portal - Alternate U.S. Phone Number
Hello, First-time poster here. Thanks to all for developing and maintaining the AllStarLink system. This is clearly a non-trivial effort and has paid big dividends for many of us. I tried to call the alternate U.S. telephone portal phone number listed on the support page: *+1 559 2557827* *United States (Alternate # for the time being)* Oddly, I received a live person who appeared to be answering a health care hotline. She seemed a bit confused when I told her I was trying to access the AllStar Link Portal. :-) How can we get this fixed on the AllStarLink web page? Thank you, Kevin KZ3L
The reverse autopatch capability/phone portal was turned down on 2/19/2015 as per the note on the AllStar Server Configuration page...: "Autopatch capability is no longer offered. All active autopatch profiles as of 2/19/2015 are still operational, and will remain so indefinitely (at no charge). If you have this service, and are so inclined to continue providing monetary assistance, please do so as a donation. " Assuming that even that was disabled and the number released to another customer of the SIP provider Jim was using. Since the passing of Jim, I don't think that there has been any movement to reinstate (due to cost...which is why Jim took it down); you can sign up with a SIP/IAX provider and gen the capabilities into your own node (I have outbound only...don't need to have the SIP port open to surfers looking to use my connection for their boilerroom operations) if you want that capability. While we are at it since it’s on the same page, under “Access from SIP devices” the name sip.allstarlink.org provided does not resolve to an IP address. Someone needs to either fix DNS or remove the name and only leave the IP. I just tried calling the 763 230 0000 number. It says "welcome to the allstar link telephone portal" and then " NODE 7630000" . I don't know what happened to "please enter the number of the node you would like to connect to followed by the pound symbol" I am still able to conenect if I try entering the node number a few times.
