Lincoln Highway (US RT 30) Coast to Coast Link-Up / LH Yard Sale

The Lincoln Highway Association has a Yard Sale every year (aug 7 - 9, 2014 for this year).
For those not familiar with the Lincoln Highway, it is the first coast to coast highway system in the United states. It was a favorite tourism attraction for decades because of all the odd things one could find along the route (from the worlds largest tea pot to the old women and her (2 story house size) shoe. If you live near US Rt 30 or I-80, then the Lincoln Highway goes through your area. The LH yard sale was designed to draw attention to the history of the Lincoln highway.

Objectives:
1: Learning what it takes to do on-the-spot targeted links this large for emergency preparedness. If not practiced, how would you know if you could do such a thing quickly without problems.
2: Making the first coast to coast link of a radio route following the LH. This Co-insides with history !
3: Drawing public attention for HAMS and our Technology.
4: In drawing attention to the history of the LH
Proposal:
For the date of Sat Aug 9 2014, @ 1:00pm est/ 12:00pm cst/ 11:00mst/ 10:00 pst (gives everyone enough time to wake up) I am proposing a "CONTROLLED NET" where we verify the miles of coverage with a check-in and milepost of coverage info to be conveyed from those "nodes" participating in the link-up. (I'm not sure we can achieve 100% this year but it's a start)
After the link-up has been verified, those that need to re-purpose their nodes could do so but I would like to encourage everyone to stay on board till 7pm est/ 4pm pst so that we may learn something about the Lincoln Highway Yard Sale in the covered areas ! It could be interesting to say the least.
I suggest each state run a test within their area connections where possible for RF links and echolink connections one day in advance for possible problems.
I would encourage talking to the local press to each of you that wants to participate as we want to show the public that we are still tech savvy folks in this modern world and and here is how "we got your back" kinda thing.
Needed:
1: One or Two Net control's for each state to spread the workload. Each Net Control for each state would be responsible to communicate and set-up the links in your state. Obviously, it is rather hard for one person in the east to even know what is going on in the west and visa-verse.
2:One Master Net Control to co-ordinate the entire process while on the air link is active ( I do volunteer but would like to find the right person who has handled high traffic on a broad link-up situation instead of me... so nominate/encourage someone to volunteer !)
3: Designated Hubs with enough bandwidth we can link many states nodes to and then just link the hubs if/as needed. If you have one we can use "exclusively on that date for this purpose", please email me.
4: Your participation / help and spreading the word for your area ! We need nodes and links be it allstar and/or RF links including echolinks (properly duplexed w/control op).
I would like to be as inclusive as we can on this. If we can get "properly connected" echolink nodes to fill in the gaps then so be it. I would prefer this be a allstar node link-up primarily because of control issues.
Those with contacts to FEMA/ARRL/Lincoln Highway Assoc. Please contact me ! and spread the word. I am about to send something off to the LH Assoc. once I know we have enough folks participating.
The First Thing "WE" need is for a volunteer from each state to pick-up the work in co-coordinating that state's link-ups. Communicating with your neighbors and find the connecting stations/routes. I will be glad to pick up the state of Ohio and can pick-up some slack in far western PA. So we are 15% of the way there and KD8BIW will help me in western Ohio !
2nd would be the hubs, and last would be your node to participate if you are in the target area of the Lincoln Highway.

The WAN repeater group has a fairly large organization of repeaters that have coverage over most of the PA turnpike. Since route 30 and the turnpike run side-by-side for quite a long distance across PA, we would be able to offer coverage for most of the PA section. Just some examples: Somerset County(2M) #27862 Chambersburg (2M) #29526 York (2M) #27705 Philadelphia (UHF) #27672 We also have a VERY large internet connection to our main HUB #2135. I'm sure it would be no issue at all to set up another or re-purpose a node number on that pipe for this experiment.
