Can I have an explanation why my whole information, phone number, home address and even my allstarlink password and node password are on the pttlink.org web site? I never granted that information to be sent to the owner of that website. I want to know who is the individual behind this. My information was given to allstarlink.org. they were the sole responsible of it. If they did not give permission to take my data. This is stealing my information.
"PTTLink is not affiliated with AllStarLink" Then why is the website using the same design and logo as AllStar Link? And why was everything lifted wholesale from the AllStar Link website? Pierre Martel wrote on 1/2/2021 11:25 AM:

Well you are the one who put your information into the pttlink.org website.. Nothing was stolen… The PTTLink servers are the same same servers/ip’s for the past number of years… the ASL board just changed the DNS to point to new servers.. So technically the ASL Board lifted all the data off the PTT link servers and moved it to google cloud.. But since they the ASL board didn’t feel the need to communicate with anybody it looks like the admins that were providing the servers put a domain name on all the infrastructure so it would keep running/providing service… they didn’t have to “steal” anything.. -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

I was dealing with a group called allstarlink. Not pttlink. We can find who is behind allstarlink . There is a board of director. I have yet to know who is pttlink. My guess is since the ASL board has nothing todo with PTTLink.org. The asl board setup new vm’s on their own separate from the admin team(pttlink).. They copied the data from the servers the admin team are running and had been running for years now.. but it seems the ASL board doesn’t want help from the people that are running the network and decided to fork off on some new adventure.. -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

Well as I pulled all of my hosting provided to ASL INC well over a year ago now due to actions the board did back then. The ASL Inc board has a few shoddy people on it.. They made decisions I didn’t agree with and removed my provided servers/services.. It was funny they were telling people I was fired from my job and had to remove the provided hosting which was further from the truth and just showed how squirmy they were. The ASL Board has done nothing for the day to day running of the ASL network.. Nor have they done anything for the app_rpt code base.. that was all the admin team. But they post as if they are the ones doing all this work. When it’s been a few on the admin team.. Who they just shit on to boot. Your data was given to a cluster of servers.. Those servers are still running just as they were before the DNS change but as the servers need DNS it looks like the admins put pttlink.org domain on it to keep the network running... Since the ASL board didn’t think to work things out properly it seems with moving or changing things they left everything up and running just changing DNS to be shady.. Your data was not stolen by PTTlink.. can’t steal what you put there... -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

Sure they can make decisions to change things.. But it sounds like they never communicated the fact to anybody that was running the network of servers.. Hence when the DNS broke the admin team fixed it by putting the domain PTTLink on the servers… The board has a communication issue with people that donate time/services to run the network. I would never donate time or money to ASL Inc. It’s a sham of what it started out as. The board of directors has done nothing in the best interest of the project or network. -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

There is a current disagreement between a (former) volunteer and the board which has caused these actions. I understand why the board did what it did and said volunteer is now causing or attempting to cause a rift in the community. For the most part the attempt has failed thus far. Allstar link still works with the new servers which should be more stable even though I disagree with the choice of google cloud for their hosting. (I’m not a fan of google services and other providers ought be able to provide vps without exposing data to google or Amazon). Regaurdless the move to commercial cloud servers should add some stability. Ultimately a few people need to grow up and accept that the board is in charge here not them and quit acting like children. So it wasn’t just one volunteer. It’s a group of people providing the hosting of servers. The board got help from one or two new people on the team to make the split happen. And how the board handle the split is on them. If they board would have told the team hay we don’t need you anymore I am sure those people would have gone. But it looks like the board made the DNS changes and never communicated to the team they did. So when the monitoring started throwing fits and the board wasn’t answering the operations team they did what good admins do and put the network right. Course now you have forked networks. And a vacuum. Really this should be a wake up call to get away from one “provider” of node numbers. Should be federated.. like area codes. So Hamvoip can issues numbers from area code 810-830, PTTLink uses area code 804-888, ASL Inc issues it’s own.. -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

The owner of the data that forms the Allstarlink network can do as they wish with that data. The people that helped with maintaining some server have no rights on the network and its data. As I see things, the Allstarlink network is working perfectly. The transition from old server to new one has been flawless. If the old admin group wants to create a new network, they can do it, and the user will switch if they choose to. But taking the whole database to create a new network is plainly wrong. I have great communication with allstarlink, thank you, and they did nothing wrong in moving the database from a server to another. The people that did wrong are the one that used the database that belong to allstarlink. Those are the one that need to put there act together and act properly. If they are butt hurt, I am fine with this. They can start a new competing network as the technology/software is open source. But the user database is not. I did.. Didn’t like it at all. Communicated that to the board many times. Did testing of it with them but I was against the mailing list going away. Do you still have the same job where the servers were located? I do.. Servers were repurposed to other ham projects…. That’s what is so sad about the current ASL Inc board members to spread rumors and make that the justification when people asked them why I pulled my hosting/support of the project.. So the fact they did this to what was the current admin team is not surprising.. And if those guys had no clue of the switch and when posting in slack asking who made DNS changes and nobody responded.. they did what they needed to keep the network going… throw a different domain on it.. because they dedicate themselves to the network.. I do have good reason to be in rage that my personal information is being use by rogue people. ASL will have to answer to the way they protected the data. But the way I see this other did what they did before with this mailing list and rebooted a backup on another name and used the data. They got away with that as the personal info is pretty limited. But that time it is not just some public posting od a mailing list. My personal info I have the right to give to who I want. Le sam. 2 janv. 2021 à 17:18, Fred Moses <fred@moses.bz> a écrit :

So you would think that.. But the issue was run into a long time ago when seal was the only server in the network. We had hundreds of nodes that didn’t follow DNS and went to IP only. In fact ASL Inc is spamming people with direct emails that were never registered with the portal informing them to that fact and to reboot nodes as they are registering to the “old” servers still that have the PTTLink dns on them now. Got an email this afternoon to our radio club’s directors email address stating that. That address is only on our groups website. So the ASL board member had to google our callsign goto our website and email that contact address. If you look at what the admin team posted online they posted that DNS was broken and here is a fix to fix that. They were just trying to fix the network error and since the board never told them what they were doing how were they to know? It wasn’t till hours later that statements were posted after the fact. They were fixing the issue as it was visible to them at the time. They didn’t steal anything or pirate your personal data. But people seem to miss that fact and start attacking them for stealing data or splitting the network. When they in fact didn’t. ASL Inc board members did all of this. The admins were too busy working on the app_rpt codebase. They weren’t looking for this whole mess till the board shoved it in their laps. -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498

I can’t as I am not on the admin team. BUT you can’t use stats as a metric. 3/4’s of my nodes don’t post to stats but they are registered just fine. Stats visibility is not a metric for nodes registered or not. There used to be a website that showed reg counts and to which server. Yes I was touched wrongly as I never dealt with pttlink as an entity that I trusted to keep my personal info. I did enter some information on a server, a server that was controlled by a legal entity, at first it was Jim Dixon that I trusted, then it was Allstarlink. Never wish to leave my information to pttlink, I just can't even find who is behind it! (well I do know, but it is not written anywhere on the site. One other thing, if it would not have been of someone keeping control of a bunch of IP addresses from the allstarlink administration, the 15 nodes registering to the pttlink server would be 0 (as in zero) or just about that. The one that holds IP addresses knows who he is.. And the IP block is known to many. When you own a domain name or a /24 you can park them at any places, when you park them into a data center, the IP or domain name is not transferred to the data center name and if you can have them advertise by your ISP they still belong to you. I know I own 2 domain names and ARDC lease me a /24 for free that Vultr advertises for me on a VPS I rent. The day I will want to move those domain names and IP blocks Vultr won't have a word to say. I will manage my DNS and I will ask them to release the private ASN they gave me to advertise the block and they will do it. No butt hurt feelings on their parts, they will act professionally I am sure of it. If I would own some IP I would have my own ASN. The day ARDC decides I am not worthy to keep the /24 they will retake it and I wont act as a bully that got his big ego hurted. Don't worry I did read that. got a little question for you since you posted the tirade... When you say: "As I have very plainly stated before to the ASL Board members and others, as long as I have the resources to support ASL they will remain available. In that I will pledge to my fellow hams that PTTLink will remain operational and available for use as long as I am able to continue to provide the time and other resources to keeping it operational." Since ASL does not need your support (obviously) why continue to put time and money in that network? And: "Additionally, you can use the DNS node lookup developed by W9CR (which was working with allstarlink.org before the ASL Board forked the network):" Care to explain how they forked the network? What I have seen, like you said, "Investigation showed that the SOA record for allstarlink.org was changed to what it is now (Cloudflare) " . That aint forking any network, that is switching servers. Pointing to a new or many new server never was a fork. Heck W9CR used at least 3 servers to run the network. If that was so bad, how come you did not come back to us before with that so bad thing? I will agree with you, you got a boot in the pants. On that we cannot disagree. But ask yourself why the board of directors of ASL acted like that? You got the finger pointing real fast at others, what about some introspection. I am not your psy, never been one, will never be one. But things like that do not happen out of nowhere. Do a step back and look at the whole situation. Does the ASL network is down? nope, Is there a large amount of nodes still stuck on the old IP address?nope. Will the ASL network survive without you? Sure thing! Now you and others, as you stated, are using a database that does not belong to you or the pttlink.org, it was never yours, will never be yours. Get a life, act like a grown up and learn from what happened. Use the technology, it is open source after all. But the database of user information is not open source and will never be. BTW, if the information that I entered into the ASL database ever finds a way to a darknet server, I will find you personally responsible, NOT ASL, you.... In that I will pledge to my fellow hams that PTTLink will remain operational and available for use as long as I am able to continue to provide the time and other resources to keeping it operational."
Since ASL does not need your support (obviously) why continue to put time and money in that network?
And: "Additionally, you can use the DNS node lookup developed by W9CR (which was working with allstarlink.org before the ASL Board forked the network):"
Care to explain how they forked the network?

Please don't air out your closet of complaints on the list, it does no good other than for making for quite the read..... Take up your issues with PTTLINK privately! Nobody is going to take you seriously when you keep spewing out shit, either sue them because they have your personal information or move the fuck on! Oh and if the personal information they do have on you is worth spewing all this shit out onto the list then you need to change your internet best practices buddy........

Don't worry I did read that.
got a little question for you since you posted the tirade... When you say: "As I have very plainly stated before to the ASL Board members and others, as long as I have the resources to support ASL they will remain available.

Being a volunteer at the red cross doesn't give you any rights to the blood they received on the day you were working for them, same if later on you need blood, the red cross doesn't owe you a single drop of blood. Keeping a database or a mailing list or IP addresses after being a volunteer for allstarlink is exactly the same, the volunteer has no rights on those. Now learn how to be a grown up and act like one.

Well to both of you I will say that this is the place for the discussion as the pttlink "group" is a rogue entity. going behind walls will just keep the truth out of the public face. Le dim. 3 janv. 2021 à 14:28, Timothy McCallum <vk3tim@gmail.com> a écrit :
