Ok, so I ordered one of these USB sound fobs from DealExtreme, opened it up, and it's hard to read the chip but it appears to say CM108 on it. Just to make sure, those of you that have one can compare the results of "lsusb" to what I got. Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0d8c:000c C-Media Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter The downside of this fob is that the chip is on the bottom side. So making a connection to pin 13 may be easy, but getting it to a wire bundle on the top side may be hard. If you remove the audio jacks, it does leave 2 small holes from each one in the board (not from a solder point) that you may be able to router a small wire through. They're all small wires anyway right? As for the pin 48, I haven't tested the connections, but since pin 48 is Volume Down, according to the datasheet, and there is a volume down button it should be easy to just solder to the button connection instead of the chip. So basically I think this sound fob would work great for modification as long as you intend on removing at least the mic jack. I personally like leaving the speaker jack just for testing/monitoring. Hello Buddy Brannan, If you order one and it truly is a CM108 please let folks know here. I ordered one that looks very similiar to that one from another source and it turned out to be not a genuine cm108 and a generic instead. Regards, John
