In the past I have tried Sox to speed up Alison files and I was not happy with the results even though the pitch stayed the same. Probably not something you would want to listen to all the time. Don't wholesale change anything without making backups so you can go back. If there are just certain nodes you consistently connect to I think you would be better off creating a Google voice custom connect message and put it in the /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/rpt/nodenames directory with its node_number.ulaw It could say anything you want. Connected to Sam, Connected to 'node number', Connected to 'some club name', etc. Google voice is at least 30-50% faster than Alison. For instance if it is like "Node 12345 connected to node 54321" Do the seperate audio files for each number play right away after each other or is there a delay function in it. For instance is it like PLAY 1.ulaw Wait a fraction of a second PLAY 2.ulaw Or is there just a bit of silence in the audio file that I could chop out? OK I guess what I'm getting at is there something extra that needs to be added to an ACID install to use that (Google voice generated files) or can the voice files be made off line and just copy them over to the nodename directory like I do with my custom voice files? No nothing special is needed. It uses sox and lame so if you don't have those you need to install them. Google voice produces mp3 files. Google also has a text size conversion limit - I believe it is 90 or so characters. The script handles that, allowing unlimited length by patching files together.
