Good day Alll! We have a two node system using the RPi2,a and the latest Compton WA3DSP code (with many thanks). Here is the anomaly we are experiencing and we are seeking guidance and input to remove the issue. After a user unkeys, he/she will hear about a second of their voice during the tail time. This occurs when a node is connected and not connected to other nodes. Something is feedback the audio. I am willing to share the config files with those that can assist in triaging this issue. Bob Yes, this is a VoIP system and and conversion delays are inevitable. So, on your system, when a user unkeys from an exchange with another user, do they hear about a half/full second of their previous audio repeated again during the tail hang? I have heard it on our ACID based repeater, but not often. Not sure why. We've tested our delay times, measuring about 1/4 - 1 sec, depending on connections. Key-ups can have delays as well. It seems most of our issues occurred when we were using a slower computer for two nodes. No issue on our faster processor. May want to try a one node configuration on your current processor and see if the issue goes away. I'm just guessing based on my limited experience, and may be missing something. This is a know issue with RPI2 in repeater operation. There is a random delay in repeat audio. Doug and Dave are working on a fix. Forcing turbo mode will help some. -- Tim :wq

Hi Keith, This excessively long, random audio delay is present with all RPi2 boards I've tried and it's a software issue. I've occasionally noticed this same delay on other platforms, too---even fast PC hardware. However, on fast hardware, the delay doesn't show up very often; so the issue is better hidden. I've got a software fix for this problem and it'll be in the RPi2 version 1.1 arm-allstar release. I'm trying to get that code to beta-test ASAP. This will be goo to see. All full duplex Allstar nodes have some audio repeat delay but its not usually a problem. However on the RPI2 if the delay is excessive then I can see that it would be annoying. Will this new code make it to the main repository so that that ACid distros can take advantage too? On a side note, I have found that the inherent link to link latency on Allstar is vastly superior to that of IRLP or Echolink. Even with internet delays which are mostly out of our control.
