Its a long story which is mostly answered here - http://blogs.digium.com/2008/05/19/zaptel-project-being-renamed-to-dahdi/ While they perform the same tasks Dahdi is more up to date. You need to use the one supplied with and setup to compile with your package. Basics that I dont understand I have used ACID Install for years its just works my first node was 2536 anyway. I have just built with some help instructions i blindly followed and worked

ACID used Zaptel ? RasPI 2 install used dahdi

whats the difference the config what does dahdi do that zaptel dont?
