Hi all, Not new to wireless communications (that's my job, I work for Novatel Wireless), and not new to the amateur radio hobby (many of my friends and work counterparts are HAMs, but I'm not an actual licensed HAM...yet, taking he test this weekend at UPARC finally after enough pokes and prodding from other HAMs. I'm located in Palm Harbor. Looking forward to contributing and hanging out. Herb Mooney

Thanks Joseph! I am anxious, I'm already installing my mobile radio and antenna on my van and picked up an Icom DSTAR HT in anticipation and for motivation. I'd run up there Wed, but I'm traveling up to Baltimore/Annapolis Tues thru Thursday for work. I'll be taking practice tests all week on my flights and in my hotel room at night 😆 Got to love the smartphone study apps. I wonder if I can buy an electronic version of one of the arrl study books so I can dig deeper on some if the questions. hmmmmm off to Amazon I go. Thanks Again, Herb Mooney Palm Harbor On Oct 31, 2016 7:05 PM, "Joseph Perez" <jperez.netengineer@gmail.com> wrote:

Well looks like I am ready to go, passed the Technician test on the 5th and got my call sign this week. Now I need to get setup for all the digital (an analog too) action in the area. I have DMR and DSTAR HTs bugging me to set them up. Is there a DV Elmer in the house? I have coffee and cookies, and adult beverages for that additional push ;-) Herb Mooney KM4YZP Palm Harbor On Mon, Oct 31, 2016 at 7:04 PM, Joseph Perez <jperez.netengineer@gmail.com> wrote:

Herb, Congratulations! There is a Dstar repeater in Tampa on 443.425, +5MHz. Matt, KA9RIX can give some advice on this as he's into Dstar Ryan, KJ4SHL has a DMR repeater in St Pete and another in Tampa near TPA. I don't have the frequencies off hand, but he should be able to post them here. I'm into P25 and our 900 MHz repeater is linked on P25 now.

Any of us would be happy to help. I just don't know much about DMR/Dstar. -- Bryan Fields, W9CR Florida Simulcast Group, Inc.
Herb, Congratulations on passing your test, and welcome to the world of amateur radio. DMR and P25 are my two primary modes of DV. Like Brian said before there are currently two DMR repeaters up in this area. Tampa Airport on 442.600+ CC1, and St. Pete on 443.750 CC1. Check out my website at kj4shl.com <http://kj4shl.com/> for talk group and timeslot information. There are some other machines starting in Brandon and going east on 1-4 check out DMR-MARC network map for info on those. Ryan, KJ4SHL
