Well, running asterisk -g will leave a core dump around when it 
segfaults, just have to work out how to analyse it.  Running gdb on 
Asterisk itself provided no useful clues, as the traceback gets 
clobbered just before the segfault.  I suspect the core dump is the 
only hope of continuing further down this path of investigation.
