We'll need more information before any suggestion can be made.

1. Which directory is getting deleted?

2. Has the user been updating the Centos 5.3 code? If a new kernel is
being installed during an update process, then zaptel won't work  after
the system is rebooted, because the older drivers won't load with the
newer kernel. A new kernel requires a complete re-compile of Zaptel.
