[App_rpt-users] Compiling on Limey Linux

I'm attempting to install sox on my Limey box. When running ./ 
configure I get:

configure: error: in `/root/sox-14.3.0':
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

I got a similar message when attempting to compile Asterisk. There is  
supposed to be a development environment on Limey, correct? Any ideas  
what's up here?
