well. yes, thats a good question..
g726 runs about 50kbits/sec per connection. So, a typical minimal residental DSL (with an upload speed of supposedly 384k), *should* support
about 7 connections, but in reality probably about half that. Probably a 1 megabit (both directions at least) connection would be a better bet,
being that in reality that would probably be good for a dozen or so at a time (unless its REAL bandwidth) which would be closer to 20.
10 megabits (both ways) would be just marvelous, and 100 would DEFINITELY do it! :-)

I would say that a more important/relevant question is - what kind of network connection do you need?
Not raw speed, but latency and lost packets - especially at prime time - early evening hours. I guess there are benchmark tests for this.
For really low power Asterisk, I have had good results with the Intel Atom D510mo. With a solid state drive, the whole thing draws 18 watts (including 2 URI's in my case). It has an integrated gigabit LAN connection, etc, etc.

Hi all, What minimum speed PC would be ok for a hub node.?
This box will not have any radio interface, just a routing server
connected to internet.
wondering if I can use one of my old IRLP boxes that is a P3 800 Meg.
Thanks,
Jon VA3RQ
