[App_rpt-users] Question

The CM-108 and its fully compatible cousins (all from C-Media) are still very much
in production and available as far as the actual IC goes. As far as pre-made USB soundcards
that use these IC's go, yes it is seemingly more difficult to find such things. The CM-108
was selected, because, at the time, it was by far the most common IC found in such devices
and was of EXTREMELY high quality, reliability, and consistency (not to mention VERY good
value!). 

Nowadays, is there once again, a generalized consensus focused upon some new, different,
IC, or are all the available (and inexpensive) USB sound cards pretty much just random??
I haven't, nor have I had time to even look lately. If there is, perhaps it would be worthwhile
to see if whatever this device is meets the requirements for this application.

If there is something worth checking out, I am not adverse to doing so.
