I think the problem is that the computer would be on a different part of
your power system than the radios and that would cause ground loop issues,
unless you add USB isolators like one posted here a few weeks ago.

But I never stand in front of the rack. I am in the shack running SSH/WinSCP
on the shack computer.

Heck, I have even done program upgrades to the system while staying in
hotels in foreign countries ....
