[App_rpt-users] first node and newbie help

Did you make the node half duplex when you set it up on the site?

Login and do "asterisk -rvvv". That puts you at the asterisk DLI with verbose level 3 or better. Then make touch tones from the remote radio to the node radio and you should see the touchtones on your screen.
