That is ABSOLUTELY the FARTHEST thing from accuracy.

The crypto stuff is used to verify SSL keys for "official"
system (portal) oriented connections, such as the telephone
portal. It has nothing to do with ANY audio (or other node to
node) payloads, and <soapbox>if I have control over it NEVER will even
have the capability. That is the intended nature of Amateur Radio.</soapbox>.

I saw the following line in one of Jim Duuude's replies yesterday about the Raspberry Pi:

I might remember seeing something about it before, but judging by that sentence it seems Asterisk uses encryption in its interconnections. Is this correct?
 
How would this factor into using repurposed WLAN equipment under Part 97 as backhaul for asterisk/app_rpt? Can the system be run without the use of encryption?
