Ok . Anyone can tell me how to find if the uri you have do have an eeprom inside aside from opening it..

Can't you store an ID string in the EEPROM for identifying multiple URIs on
a system, so the computer knows which interface to activate when, which is
useful for crossband repeaters and the like.

That was my impression of why it was there - I could be way off the mark
though, and bow to superior knowledge in these matters.
