Actually Harry, many people find the announcements too loud for their
tastes, even when everything is adjusted OK.

A while back somebody posted a script that went through the entire directory
containing all the announcements and lowered the volume by a certain number
of DB. Perhaps with some searching you could find it, or some other user on
here will have a copy.
