I have a different question. I'm not in the US, so buying a URI is out.
I Have the USB audio dongles and want to start cheaply. Does anyone have
a cable diagram for using a USB dongle with something like the Baofeng
radios? I'm only looking at it for a low usage node, so duty cycle is
not a problem. I'm torn between connecting the radio(s) to the dongle
directly or using an audio transformer in between. Any one have any
experience using either?
The main use would be a set of allstar nodes to provide communication in
emergencies between places hidden from the local repeater by hills,
about a mile apart.
Also does anyone know if there has been any work on using a USB DVB-T
dongle (aka poor man's SDR) as a receiver? They are really cheap and
common here.
TIA and 73,
Geoff.
