Loren,

Not sure what you mean by lowest? I suspect lowest bandwidth and still not compromise quality. We added the ilbc codec to both the BBB and RPi2 images. It is near G726 quality at about 1/3 the BW although it does require more CPU time. There is a link on the hamvoip.org web page describing how to install it in Acid. Here is a direct link:

That being said I still prefer the G726 codec in most cases where BW is not an issue. ilbc has a tendency to not mute dropouts like G726 so on bad connections you can hear an occasional stutter.

It you have a BW issue then ilbc is certainly worth a try but remember you need to have it installed at BOTH ends. Communications with a BBB or RPi2 image node from hamvoip.org would work fine.

Question what is the lowest codec one should use for allstar?

If some one could list all the codecs and how they work in iax.conf or sip.conf that would be great example lets say i wish to use speex narrow band what would that be allow=Speex?? I tried it didnt work anythoughts suggestions by the way my repeater site has free internet but the internet can be really awful at times thats why i am looking for lower codecs to use..
here is some thing i found off the internet its a picture of different codecs but not sure exactly how i would tell the config file to use them or if i have to do anything special to use the codec..http://i.stack.imgur.com/E93uL.png
