[App_rpt-users] USB Adapter has no EEPROM installed

Since this generated a bunch of discussion I just went ahead and designed and ordered PCB's with Male/Female DB25's and a socket for the 93C46 family of EEPROM.So if someone wants one when they arrive (2-3 weeks) let me know :-) IMHO a lot cleaner than soldering an EEPROM directly inside a DB25 cable shell...

be in the connector, so the parameters are tied to the radio/cable, not the URI (to allow
field-replaceability, etc).

Ahh, I see the real problem - there is no unique serial number (or anything else) between URI-X's. So doing the udev.conf thing doesn't look like it will work as there is nothing unique in dmesg to lock it to...
Sounds like DMK should put a minimal EEPROM in and assign unique serial numbers - if that is a 10$ upgrade for those with multiple URI's it sounds like a decent deal.
I will check my sound fobs next...

I have 5 USB fobs to play with and I know the udev rule tango - I'll see if there is something that lets you lock it down regardless of order. That is the case with WiFi, serial and Ethernet dongles I have worked with in the past so I see no reason (yet) why USB audio devices would be any different...

We should be able to control that with a udev rule.
