[App_rpt-users] New Acid install - kickstart download fail from USB

Thanks Loren, I tried this method you suggested but the thumb drive does not show up as a bootable device now, I'm thinking it may be because the PC I'm installing on uses EUFI, not a bios.  I'll see if there is a comparability mode but I don't think so.

I no longer use Windows at all I use Xubuntu Studio 14.04 LTS Windows kinda made me a little mad so i made the switch..
I hope some of this helps you out with the install if not let me know it could be the iso imagine you have might be corrupt i dont like to think of that but it is possible..
http://askubuntu.com/questions/59551/how-to-burn-a-windows-iso-to-a-usb-device

Insert the USB device and then open Disk Utility (in 10.10 and older, System -> Administration -> Disk Utility).Select the USB device from the list in the left of the program and detect where it was mounted: /dev/sd[1 letter][optionally 1 number]. For example, /dev/sdc or /dev/sdc1.

Make sure the USB device is unmounted (not safely removed, but unmounted) If it is mounted you can unmount it:sudo umount /dev/sd[1 letter][optionally 1 number]

Assuming the .iso file is in your home folder, open the terminal and write:sudo dd bs=4M if=[ur .iso] of=/dev/sd[that 1 letter]

Example:sudo dd bs=4M if=windows7.iso of=/dev/sdc

And wait for it to finish. (The "bs=4M" - bit is optional, just makes it faster.)

That's encouraging, what method do you use to create your USB stick installs?  Combination of fdisk, dd, and file copying?

Thanks Loren.  This is interesting, looking over the site I see it's for creating live Linux installs that run from a USB stick, I'm trying to create installation media on a USB stick that will install to an SSD in the PC.  Once the installation is complete, I would no longer need the USB stick.

I'm not sure with Windows you might try this http://unetbootin.github.io

I used the windows Rufus app to create the bootable USB stick from the acid_centos.iso.  I'm thinking this may be the trouble.  I will probably need to find another method for creating the USB stick.  Recommendations for a procedure that has worked for the Acid ISO?
                            Thanks

Thanks for the reply Loren.  The same iso file installs without error when installed on a new VM.  Have you had success with a USB thumb drive install?  Perhaps Acid install from USB is not supported.

I know it sounds far fetched but it almost sounds like a corrupt ISO  image..

First time AllStar user and node setup.  I have a small form factor PC with no CD ROM or floppy.  I've created a Acid Centos install on a USB stick but after it successfully boots from the stick and status the install it complains it can't find the kickstart file and then prompts me for cdrom.  I've confirmed the ks.cfg is in /Dev/sdb1:/ks.cfg but even with kickstart boot options it fails to find it.  Same PC installs Centos 7 from same USB stick without issue.  I've used the Centos Wiki page To create a USB stick install using the Centos-5 section but this method rests in a USB key that is not recognized by eufi as bootable. I'm using an acid_centos.iso downloaded a couple of days ago from the AllStar home page.
I have not tried putting the ks.cfg on an FTP or web server yet - anyone have success with Acid install from stick?
I also burned the ISO to a CD and booted from a USB CD ROM drive but it also fails to "download" the kickstart - exact experience as USB key.  Have tried all three of the USB ports on this PC.  Have also tried two different USB sticks.
