Hi Jim-
1. Yes, it is root. Should I change that or create another user?
2. Ok on CTCSS. I really will not be using it, I might just leave it the way it is, gives me a visual indicator the RIM is on and loaded.
3. Checking IAX now. I'm just trying to SSH in locally at this point on the same network though.
Thanks!Tom

- What username are you using to log into the local interface? If it's root, then chances are it may be blocked from logging in via ssh. Depending on what distribution you are using, the username may be 'pi'. Again, it depends on what distro you are using.
- So, the CTCSS in the radio driver tells the node what signaling it should expect on the CTCSS pin from the radio, usb means that it when it senses the signal go active high, the radio has a valid PL, usbinvert is the flip of that and active low. That setting does not control what the node sends to the radio. If you don't plan on using that pin, it may be safe just to disconnect it (again, it depends on if you plan on using it).
- Take a look at what you have set for bindport in /etc/asterisk/iax.conf. That port is what you need to open to allow people to connect in to your node (this is a udp port). If you want to allow remote access via ssh, you will also need to open tcp/22 or tcp/222 (again, depending on what distro you are using).
Hope that helps!

Subject: [App_rpt-users] SSH Access Hi all-
I'm in the last lap of getting my first node online, still have a lot of learning to do. My setup consists of an S-Com 7330 that has repeaters on the first two ports and the Asterisk Pi on the third port for linking to a neighboring system.
A few items I need some direction on:
1. SSH access. I can putty into the Pi and get to the login and password screen, but it rejects my username and password that I use to log into the machine on the local interface. Do I need to setup a different user account for SSH access? anyone with a good web link on how to accomplish this?
2. CTCSS Invert. I am using USBRADIO for the driver. On the interface from the Repeater Builder USB-RIM Lite 7330 module it is lighting up my CTCSS light with no activity like its inverted. I can jumper the 7330 internally to invert it and make it go out, but not thru the driver. I changed CTCSS to USBINVERT but it didn't solve it. COS is working properly. What else should I be checking? Maybe a cabling issue? I used an off the shelf DB9 cable to connect the RIM to the 7330.
3. Are there any ports I need to open up on my router? I've looked far and wide and cannot seem to find this info. When the machine is fired up I see it is listed online on the website.
Thank you all for the help!
Tom
