I've tried a few apps to try and isolate the bad line looking at returns and things without success. It's not from using Windows to copy as i had the problem right out of the box and many others have had the same issue. It will work for iaxrpt on a phone and not the computer or vice versa. 

I've had it happen to people using HamVOIP, Dial, and ASL 1.01 so it must be in the original file. Why it works on one version of iaxrpt and not the other I don't know but on Facebook groups and local friends at least a dozen have had the problem. I suspect many have the issue and don't realize it or give up in frustration and use the one that works. Ultimately it's probably something that needs to be fixed in the distributions. It drove me nuts for weeks until I figured it out by retyping the stanzas in iax.conf
