A quick backup assumes root. use sudo if/where needed.
cd /etc/asterisk
mkdir bk
cp *.* /etc/asterisk/bk
Now copies of all the files are there in /etc/asterisk/bk
look to make sure your files are there beforehand.
to copy back
cp /etc/asterisk/bk/*.* /etc/asterisk
I am assuming you are not doing a upgrade method that is destructive to
the data on the whole HDD.
Best to copy your .conf files off disk somewhere beforehand.
Using a GUI program like winscp makes this much easier and faster.
But suggest you also look-up for online linux how-to's for file
manipulation.
