David S,

My comment to this whole fiasco...

First I get your frustration. However what is posted here IS NOT ON THE
ALLSTARLINK FORUM. It move away years back. Please read on .....

A while back Allstarlink.org was moved to a different server platform.
This move evidently upset some previous volunteers who had so graciously
providing services for Allstar for may years and split began between old
and new policy makers.

It was stated by the newly created PTTlink group that they intended to
eliminate all current Allstar Member's data from their Volunteer Donated
Hosting Servers after a certain date. (would have to hunt the date but
been quite a while past now)

People were given the option to remain a member of what would become a
newly created PTT group. If you didn't choose to sign uo and become one
of their new members, you and your Allstar data would be automatically
purged from their newly created system.

According to that posting people like you and me should not be getting
emails from the PTTlink group unless you specifically asked to become a
member of PTTlink or subscribed to their new mailing list at
app_rpt-users at lists.keekles.org.

Evidently that promised deletion of our data didn't happen as I and many
others get mailings from a mailing list which I haven't subscribed to.
Since PTTlink's mailing list does not contain content published by the
official Allstar Community's mailing list it therefore serves no purpose
for me.

PTTlink does continue to confuse those who haven't made the distinction
that neither PTTlink nor its mail list "app_rpt-users at lists.keekles.org"
have NO affiliation with allstarlink.org and its Community mail list
platform.

PTTlink's mail list is evidently populate with the data captured from an
old allstalink.org app_rpt-users list. Supposedly closed and abandoned
in the past by Allstarlink.org when they moved to the Community Platform
for their Allstar mail list. (app_rpt-users at community.allstarlink.org)

The lack of promised deletion of Allstar user info by the past Admin
volunteers from their servers is why many are still being sent unwanted
emails by PTTlink

In my case I have created a spam filter for PTTlink I must admit I,
occasionally when bored, view a message or two just for entertainment
before dumping the trash filter. (the reason this reply to your post is
a bit late). I've noticed that it is now mainly individual members from
both groups who are guilty of fanning the flames and adding to peoples
confusion. Not the controlling folks of either platform who had the
disagreement. They seem to have let thing quiet down. Perhaps in time
things will eventually mend and the pot stirrers will grow up.

As far as the Official Allstalink user group nothing changed for
existing Allstar users.

visit < https://community.allstarlink.org/> for the Original email forum.

Moving the Allstar hosting platform from volunteer provided services to
a commercially supported platform. Which provides a reliable backup and
huge bandwidth and able to provide a platform capable of supporting the
large Allstar membership base has become....

Intelligent choice from my user's perspective.
