[Allstar Digital] DMR and dv3000

I'm trying my best to understand this. It's my understanding that maybe using a mototrbo repeater and feeding the digital data steam into a DV3000 we should get a ulaw or pcm or something in analog out the other side right? Is my simplistic understanding of this right? I have a xpr8300 sitting on a shelf I can experiment with?
