Again, MY repeater does not have the option of uLaw or PCM output without an extra piece of hardware. I guess Hytera repeaters have this built in. Motorola charges extra, and it is much more expensive than a DV3000. On Fri, Nov 6, 2015 at 10:24 PM, Matthew Pitts < daywalker_blade_2004@yahoo.com> wrote:
Steve,
You're right, we don't need the repeater as such; I was mainly pointing out the option for those that might already have it to be able to connect in.
Mike,
You're "missing" that it's all done digitally; no POTS equipment connection needed. The connection between the Hytera repeater and Asterisk is using a format supported natively by Asterisk/AllStar. I have to manage to download the Pi2 AllStar image and get it on a microSD card this weekend so I can get the bridge that I've been running for the last few years operational again on D-STAR and possibly ready for DMRPlus as well.

Do we really want to have a repeater to act as a gateway? We can connect to the IPSC network with a Linux application (DMRlink) and extract the AMBE for decoding by the DV3000. From there into USRP and on to Asterisk.

Matthew,
My XPR8300 does not have any telephone port (RJ11) for this option. In addition, I see that even for other models (XPR8XXX) you need the CONNECT PLUS XRI 9100 INTERCONNECT GATEWAY to perform this function.
What am I missing?

Steve,
I'm not certain about the Hytera repeaters, but Motorola MotoTRBO repeaters require purchase of a code to be entered in the CPS to enable telephone interconnection, which is sort of what we would be doing. I also know that a ham in Europe was experimenting with connecting a Hytera repeater to Asterisk via the Hytera telephone interconnection port.

Matthew, Can you expand on 2?

All right guys,
Here are some of my thoughts on this:
1) We will need the DV3000 to get D-STAR AMBE into the system.
2) We should be able to get DMR audio into it without needing an external AMBE chip; however, it may require an addition to the repeater

3) Wires-X is an unknown at this point, though I suspect we can
accommodate it somehow.
