ntpdate 0.centos.pool.ntp.org If using ntpd, sometimes it can be like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqYwhtuVLDs But other times it sounds different. I most noticed it in peoples voices. I didn't look at it on a scope. On Sun, Mar 29, 2015 at 1:32 PM, kk6ecm <kk6ecm@gmail.com> wrote:
Using ntpdate at the command line returned this response

does that mean it did not update?
Thanks,

I have no problem running ntpd in my ACID servers that only have RTCMs interfacing with radios. But when I use usb sound interfaces (URI or usb sound fob) then I find that ntpd causes anomalies in the audio. Many people don't notice it but I do and anyone with a good ear will notice it and comment about the audio sounding strange and blame it on using a computer in the audio path.
Turn ntpd off and just use *ntpdate* once per hour and the strange audio sounds go away.
I have seen this in various systems and while it is worse in slower single core systems, it is still slightly present even in high end quad core systems. But it is not present at all when using only RTCMs. Chuck WB9UUS

I'm interested in using ntpd to keep my ACID server sync'd with date and time, and notice it is off, as configured from the CD. I set "chkconfig
ntpd
on, but wonder what servers I should use in ntp.conf. Also, has anyone used it and had any difficulties?
