So it stutters, but finally makes it. If I just do asterisk -r after reboot, I get a similar message: Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?) and no, I don't see this file. If I type safe_asterisk, I am good to go, with assterisk -r then working fine.
