Well, If I wanted to control another remote base (HF) outside of asterisk, it would require that tones be passed over there air. Command line would not work. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Sawyer" <tim.sawyer@mac.com> To: "Angelo Glorioso" <n5uxt@hotmail.com> Cc: "Buddy Brannan" <buddy@brannan.name>; "app_rpt mailing list" <app_rpt-users@ohnosec.org> Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2014 9:44 AM Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] Touch Tones Understood. How about having a command or two that would send the TTs you want? http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/94 -- Tim :wq On Feb 20, 2014, at 7:21 AM, Angelo Glorioso <n5uxt@hotmail.com> wrote:
Hi Tim,
Thanks all for the replies. I was trying to pass the tones via RF. Not to the next node per say.

Yes, Buddy you have it right. Let’s break it down:
* is the prefix, AKA the function (or start) character. http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/133
4 is command mode (you exit with #). http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/21
0 is a shortcut for last node number
So for propagate_dtmf to work you have to connect to the remote node and then go into command mode.

Wouldn’t it have to be *4[node number] to guarantee that you’re commanding the right node? *4 is the command to send commands to a remote node, thus *40 would specify to control the most recently connected node, is that not correct? Or did I get the wrong end of this?
