Perfect, that's what I needed to know. My remote is currently a private node. I'll give that a try. Thanks! Shayne On Fri, Feb 29, 2008 at 1:24 PM, Jim Duuuude <telesistant@hotmail.com> wrote:
NO. This is why we have the ",y" at the end of a node entry in the node list to indicate that its a remote. All that telemetry and stuff wont go out a remote if your list is configured correctly. The allstar node list is done this way, if you have provided us the correct info. If you are doing something private, then you need to make sure you format your node list correctly.

Thanks. Oh, so the announcement is made on the calling side, and gets transmitted to the recipient side because they are linked? I see that some people are running frequency agile hf radios as remote bases. If they leave it sitting on 20m somewhere and someone connects to that node, does it announce that to the world on 20m? Is that not a concern or is there some existing way they deal with it?

For the connection messages, it would require a code change to
app_rpt.c
to not announce the node connection when connecting to a remote base.
The Id'er is a local-only message and shouldn't key up the remote. This is why you don't hear everyone's repeater ID's on Allstar link.

Is there a way to turn off the all announcements when one node connects to another and the id'er for a node? In particular I'm thinking of when I connect a repeater to a remote base on the same system. I'd like to connect to the remote base and not have that be announced on the remote base.
If there's an example config for this somewhere, I'd appreciate a pointer to it. I went through all the ones I could find.
