Hi Jim; Good to hear from you Duuuude! Yeh, I figured you were busy with real / revenue generating work. I played around with all of the buffer parameters and queue size in chan_simpleusb and could not get rid of that cyclical raspiness on the Raspberry! When it works - it works well, every few seconds the audio gets raspy and then clears up. I've also been busy with work and now the holiday parties have started to kick in! - that's paRties - not paNties :) Cheers, Ramesh. On 04/12/2012 8:27 PM, Jim Duuuude wrote:
BTW..
If anyone feels like being ambitious, and have experience with chan_simpleusb (at the source level), you might try to contact Ramesh and see if you can try 'poking around' at some of the buffer parameters for the stupid OSS audio stuff. Or maybe, the OSS compatibility layer in that version of the kernel is sufficiently broken to not be able to work properly in the environment at all?? Maybe native alsa is necessary here. Perhaps someone might want to 'splice' the native alsa 'way' of 'talking' to the sound hardware from something like chan_beagle into chan_simpleusb to see if this is the case. Definitely not a trivial proposition.

Jim, many thanks for the update! Please keep up the great work, and with Christmas coming on, make sure the family comes first.
I for one will wait patiently for the results of your work.

There is work being done and progress being made to get app_rpt-ness and raspberry-ness working together.
Sadly, I have been lack in my duties in this area as I have been 'screwing off' working on 'real' (revenue-generating) work in the last couple of weeks (and attempting to interleave my "life" along in there somewhere), so it may take a little while longer.
Please have some patience in this area, everyone. It's being dealt with in the most reasonable manner possible.
Currently, Ramesh has a version of the 'stuff' that is working -- sorta. There is still some issue with audio buffering (with the SWINE USB), and we (or at least I) havent had time to look at it in the past few days. It will happen, just give it time. Also, there is some random poopy about the crypto libraries under that distro, which *may* require using Asterisk version 1.6 instead of the "normal" distro, and that could get at least somewhat ugly.
Anyway, more to come.
Jim
