the nodename script calls /bin/bash, and the make install script drops it into /usr/local/bin/bash. So, either rename the /bin/bash to bash.3 or some such and link /bin/bash to the one in /usr/local/bin or just copy the /usr/local/bin version over to /bin. -- Bryan Sent from my iPhone 5...No electrons were harmed in the sending of this message.

3. I then rebooted my box and bash --version It now says version 4.1.0(1)-release (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
However I still get the error when running .sh file Processing Node Number: 2000 - Callsign: WB6NIL ,/test.sh: line 43: ${f2,,}: bad substitution
