The upstream Internet provider (AT&T) is having a major, region wide outage that started about 2PM EDT on Tuesday and is still down. AT&T reports a major fiber cut near Greensboro, NC, about 175 miles NW of Wilmington. They estimate that service will be restored by Wednesday afternoon An alternative for the web page is http://www.crompton.com/hamradio/BeagleBoneBlackAllstar/ Image downloads will not work until this major outage is fixed. 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio
There have been an awful lot of cut fiber optic cables lately. We had one last week in Colorado. On Wed, Jul 22, 2015 at 7:38 AM, Doug Crompton <doug@crompton.com> wrote:

when I was the local switched network manager in the AT&T GNOC (mission control for the company in Bedminster NJ) back in '99-'02, the most dangerous animal was a contractor with a backhoe or piledriver. Especially Texas DOT putting in armco barriers along the interstates. Summer was always the worst...because the crews were out in full force...and it doesn't take much for a backhoe to pull up buried fiber conduit(s) or a pile driver to send a metal I beam through the bundle buried along the right of way. It happens. All it takes is a 2' misreading of a drawing or non-updated elevation to put the bundle in harm's way. -- Bryan Sent from my iPhone 5...No electrons were harmed in the sending of this message.
