Cannot Receive Incoming Connections From Other Allstar Link Nodes. I can connect to others fine. I checked my port-forwarding and it's setup correct for port 4569 UDP. My node is 29607. Thanks, KD0ENX Aaron Wardyn
Two things: 1) Be sure you have your node's port setting on the portal the same as your node. If you did a portal configuration and download this is not the issue. 2) I have seen 4569 not available with COX. Don't know if they use that for the own phone service or if they just block it. I agree with Tim. Some ISPs and cellular phone providers with data plans block VoIP ports. If customers are using VoIP phone service or other type of internet service, then ISPs with telephone and cellular phone companies won't make money from users depleting their airtime minutes. I had the same issue before I setup port forward for Allstar, so it goes along the fact your ISP is blocking port 4569 for your incoming connections. which is the case (port blocking) in 99% of the consumer service terms and conditions from your ISP. And it does have to do with revenue stream, as well as traffic volume management. try investigating business class service. yeah it costs more, but for the most part (even with Comcast), there is no port blocking, you can run your own web/mail/whatever server, and for a small upcharge, you can request a static ip. like all things, you get what you pay for. have had 0 problems (aside from two major storms in 2 years knocking down power for multiple days...) with the business class service in 4 years. -- Bryan Sent from my iPhone 5...small keyboard, big fingers...please forgive misspellings...
