Greetings from a ham radio dummy. I'm old to ham radio but new to setting up repeaters, Allstar and URI. Also lost working with Linux. Yes pretty much a disaster looking for a place to happen. I have a repeater running with a RC-100 controller on VHF. I'm attempting to add a link to a linked system over Allstar. I have removed the old controller and wired the URI. To the best of my knowledge I have the wiring correct, but I could be wrong. I downloaded the Linux software from the Allstarlink website and made a bootable disk. I loaded the Debian with Asterisk software only, Not the Graphical version. At the end of the install I manually added my information. I put my node number and password number in. I followed the support information from the Allstar site and did a node download from Allstar. I checked for my node on the Allstar list and it is listed. I called the link phone number and I can get through the login but it doesn't seem to connect to my link. I get a busy signal and it hangs up. When I key a HT the repeater sometimes comes up. Most of the time I have the key the PTT 2 or 3 times in a row to make it key up. Either way I get no audio out of the transmitter other then the IDer and beep. I hear the receiver just fine. I have search for help all over the internet, but what information I find is like a Texan trying to read Arabic. I speak Texagain so I'm not really the best with the English language. There could be a number of things going on, but my first guess is your audio for usbradio or simpleub is not set for your repeater radio. Update: I made some changes in the simpleusb.conf file and was able to get the keying problem solved. Still no audio being transmitted from the receiver. I hear myself talking in the monitor and with headphones on pin 21 but still transmitter keys but no audio. Chris Viningre 70 W. The software is Dail that I downloaded from Allstar. The radio is a GE Mastur II VHF. The configuration was downloaded from the Allstar portal. rpt.conf is set for duplex. Thanks Steve for turning me on to the simple-tune-menu.In there I could see my squelch was opening and showing sound on the sound meter and keying the transmitter. I removed the receiver output wire on pin 21 (correct mic pin ?)and monitored through a headphone. I could hear myself come through the receiver. Chris Viningre 70 W. I can't really tell the facts based on what you have stated but, I'll give you a place to look anyway. I'm guessing (perhaps incorrectly) you are interfacing this with a transceiver for link , you may be in the wrong mode for a transceiver type link. and/or full/half duplex issues. OR Try inverting the logic of your COR/COS and/or PTT line from the TRX. But invert it electronically first. Perhaps with a 3904/3906 transistor. Then adjust the software logic as needed. It sounds like your audio is not gateing with the COR/PTT. A place to start ? But it always helps others helping you if you state the software you are using (acid,dial, etc) and/or the the hardware (PC,BBB, Pi etc) and your node connection configuration (simplex/duplex repeater, TRX link etc) It helps everyone get a mental picture for what you are doing. and how you are trying to do it and gets the attention of those doing like things.
