The application from KF7DRV for managing all those recorded files is called Node Shark and is still around http://hkeithw.powweb.com/NodeShark/index.html On a related topic: I once read that, if you record the frequency transient that the guy's FM radio makes on key up, you can use that as evidence he was the source of the offending transmission - should you find him and there is any "discussion". Supposedly the exact way a rig's PLL locks up is almost as unique as a fingerprint. You would need to receive it on an SSB receiver and record the audio beat node on some high quality recorder (which could be a personal computer of course). You would set the receiver for USB and set it perhaps 1 kHz below the channel frequency. Of course he might use a crystal controlled rig ... that would make him pretty unique as well.... Has anyone attempted to do this? I'm thinking that there is a net I'd like to join on Weds. nights and sometimes I'm away from my house...so, it's not possible (but don't want to miss it...). I know, what we're talking about is a remote base, in essence; however, since the characteristics of the reception of HF (where there is no concept of a COR for a useable signal) are a bit different than what is considered normal operations. Don't know if it's possible, but wondering the same thing myself. As for COR, you can generate a pseudo COR by detecting the presence of audio. I have a repeater radio I'm working on for the club that was previously modified using a double transistor pair that sets the output to the voltage rail upon detecting audio... Sort of latches up., and drops when audio drops.... With HF, ere can be a lot of noise, so the level needs to be adjusted, kind of like a squelch. Thanks, Bob kk6ecm Sent from iPad

You should be able to interface the URI to the TS480 through the packet connector. All the signals needed for the URI are there on the packet connector. I have built a few of these cables for customers using the packet port. As far as controlling the radio remotely that would require some type of interface from the node computer to the radio. Bryan, First, No, I have not done that with a ts-480. It's do-able You only need to use 'vox' for COR Not having looked at kenwoods newest command sets, I'm not sure that you can tune it (freq agile). But Kenwood has always been straight forward with settings in the past so if you know how to script opening of a com port, it normally is ASCII data type so it's should be fairly easy to make what you want in agile control. ...mike/kb8jnm

The question I always ask when someone wants to put up an expensive rig as a node... Why risk an expensive radio? There have been many time where my radio was linked into by someone else, then some dumb ... With a disabled time out timer gets his mic ptt jammed on and keeps your node keyed up... If you aren't careful you could hurt the radio. Sure you can set TOT for the node and the radio... I use cheap radio's... Moto GM series rigs with low power amps. Work great.
