Trouble Getting Registered When I set up a static IP address, my asterisk does not register. When I am in DHCP, it does register, but I cannot receive calls. (I am able to call out to most other nodes). This is my [root@test network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-eth0 DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO=none HWADDR=00:14:22:28:8c:90 ONBOOT=yes DHCP_HOSTNAME=test TYPE=Ethernet IPADDR=192.168.1.30 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 GATEWAY=192.168.1.1 Does anything look wrong with this? The port 4569 is forwarded on the ASIS router. IRLP works fine, BTW (whatever that means!). And I can shell in, ping sites, etc. Or, maybe something else is adrift. I know it is probably on the archive a lot of places, but I am experiencing Error 1 sometimes.
It is sometimes right off the bat when I reboot the system, sometimes not. I had it before, and I decided to reinstall from scratch.
Is there anything i can do about this? The only thing I could think that may have led to this is the power cord accidentally coming loose once when the computer was on.

I'm not sure of the issue, but here are some of my observations... If you are running DHCP, then I'd expect BOOTPROTO=dhcp If you are runnning static IP, and can't get out, then I'd question the port forwarding. How did you setup the node? Did you download the configuration from Allstarlink.org during the setup script when loading ACID? Why does "DHCP_HOSTNAME=test," and not "DHCP_HOSTNAME=<Allstarlink login name>?" When you login into root and it says "test" on the command line, I find I did not get through to the Allstarlink server during ACID setup. When loading ACID from the CD did you indicate a DHCP connection? You can change that later, but if there is a static IP address issue during setup, you can have problems... perhaps that is why we are here? When you switch your node from DHCP to static IP, the name server in resolv.conf gets blown away. So the box doesn't get dns access. So edit your /etc/resolv.conf file and put a name server of: nameserver 8.8.8.8 Reboot, then you should be able to connect out and in. By the way you may need to wait 10 -15 minutes before thew node is fully active. Once you node shows up in the Allstar active node list, it takes that long before most nodes find you IP address.
