New node setup using Allstarlink portal download. Behind NAT on private network. All necessary ports (udp/tcp) forwarded to server IP (4569, 5004-5082, 10000-20000) DNS redirect available (w5bi.no-ip.org). 1st problem - AllstarLink Web Transceiver on separate PC on LAN will not connect to my node (works to other nodes) 2nd problem - iaxRpt works on LAN but not from outside. Am I trying something impossible? Pointing to my public IP or w5bi.no-ip.org does not work. 3rd problem - WinSCP works fine on LAN but not from outside. Same question as iaxRpt - possible? I probably left out some critical detail(s), but help point me in the right direction. Gary Gary Bonebrake W5BI Emergency Coordinator Sandoval County ARES <mailto:w5bi@arrl.net> w5bi@nmscares.org
I will reply below where the problems are... Am I trying something impossible? Pointing to my public IP or w5bi.no-ip.org does not work. It won't if you are behind the same firewall as the machine. You would need to be outside of your current lan with a different public IP 3rd problem – WinSCP works fine on LAN but not from outside. Same question as iaxRpt – possible? Same as above, but you also need to forward the ssh port. For Acid it is port 222 and for Xiapr it is 22. I didn't see this in your port forward list above. I probably left out some critical detail(s), but help point me in the right direction. 1st problem - AllstarLink Web Transceiver on separate PC on LAN will not connect to my node (works to other nodes)
Hints-- Router issue: Port 4569/udp needs to be forwarded to the internal IP of the allstar box. Recheck your router settings. Network setup: Is the router on the same ethernet segment and network? Can the router be pinged from the node? Registration: Is the box registering? Log in to allstarlink.org and display the node list. There should be a green box next to your node number.
2nd problem - iaxRpt works on LAN but not from outside. Am I trying something impossible? Pointing to my public IP or w5bi.no-ip.org does not work.
Use the same hints listed above.

If install was ACID, ssh will need port 222/tcp forwarded to the internal ip of the node to work. Otherwise, port 22/tcp should be forwarded if it was a non-acid or non-limey distro.
I probably left out some critical detail(s), but help point me in the right direction.

?2 of the questions can be answered with port-fowarding being fixed. #1 web tranceiver will not work behind the same IP. 5004-5082 do not need to be forwarded. 10000-20000 are for audio and video streaming. All you should need is the ssh port 22 or 222 TCP dependant on your distro and port 4569 UDP for allstar. If you have echo-link configured 5198-5199 UDP Brian KB3ORS -----Original Message----- From: Stephen Rodgers Sent: Sunday, February 13, 2011 9:04 PM To: app_rpt-users@ohnosec.org Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] Remote access to node fails On 02/13/2011 04:03 PM, GARY BONEBRAKE wrote:
