Help!!!! cant get iaxRpt to connect -firewall problems?
G'day all well, he is a newbies question i have installed the current version of xelatec's XIPPR on a machine i have spare here and all looks to have gone fine.... webmin works,ect,ect... but i have installed iaxRPT on this machine i'm using now and i just cant get the damn thing to connect i have opened the correct ports on my router and windoze machine, spent 3 days trolling around for any info but with no luck but the only thing left i can think of is that the ports on the linix machine are closed... i have looked at the iptables file but that looks un populated so is XIPPR using some other form of firewall? sorry for my first post to be a "HELP" message but this looks to be a real fun toy to play with but its fustrating me to hell thanks for reading and cheers 73's Mitch vk6fmll

The CM-108 and its fully compatible cousins (all from C-Media) are still very much in production and available as far as the actual IC goes. As far as pre-made USB soundcards that use these IC's go, yes it is seemingly more difficult to find such things. The CM-108 was selected, because, at the time, it was by far the most common IC found in such devices and was of EXTREMELY high quality, reliability, and consistency (not to mention VERY good value!). Nowadays, is there once again, a generalized consensus focused upon some new, different, IC, or are all the available (and inexpensive) USB sound cards pretty much just random?? I haven't, nor have I had time to even look lately. If there is, perhaps it would be worthwhile to see if whatever this device is meets the requirements for this application. Several vendors that were shipping cm1xx based devices are now substituting devices that use the SSS1623 sound chip in the device.. They seem to work under Linux native for CentOS.. so maybe easy to implement.. I am using them in D-Star repeater service for GMSK They have very similar characteristics to a C-Media device but do use a more generic driver.. I just received 4 leaded CM108 fobs from China. 10 days, and they are the right thing. Google "bestofferbuy cm108" without the quotations and click the first result. $6.90 - free shipping. These may be a better choice over the dealextreme units as they have routinely been the epoxied blob - not a leaded cm108 which makes PTT signaling more difficult. Also, I have used both the quad card and the fob. Don't believe the squabble over the superiority of the quad card. The CM108 based interfaces I have built and used have excellent audio quality and squelch action. I use the xelatec distro. Tastes great - less filling. Kevin - W3KKC

Hi Corey, chan_alsaradio needs to be added into asterisk build by modifying the Makefile in the channels directory. Then when building the asterisk it should build properly. You need alsalib installed. However, when you run asterisk it will probably conflict with chan_alsa(instaleld by default in asterisk) which needs to be disabled from your system. Bogdan
